Nio delivers first ET7 electric sedans
Chinese EV maker Nio has delivered the first batch of its ET7s at the company’s main headquarters. The model ET7 is a sedan that uses the company’s second-generation architecture called NT2.0. GM gets 65,000 electric Hummer reservations
General Motors has received over 65,000 reservations for its electrified Hummer pickup and SUV beating the automaker’s initial expectations. China’s BYD ends combustion engine cars to focus on EVs
Chinese EV maker BYD has announced that it has stopped making combustion engines and will focus on electric and hybrid cars only. The move is motivated by Beijing’s pledge to bring carbons emissions to a peak in 2030 before the EV shift. BYD is among the six companies that pledged to phase out combustion engines by 2040. Tesla delivers record vehicles in Q1
Tesla has reported record electric vehicle deliveries for the first quarter of 2022 meeting the expectations of analysts amid supply chain disruptions. The company delivered 310,048 vehicles in the first quarter, which is 68% up from the previous year. However, Tesla has decreased production from 305,840 in the previous quarter to 305,407 from January to March. Follow the complete story here.

Ford recalls 737,000 vehicles over fire and brake failure risk
Ford Motors is recalling 737,000 vehicles in the United States over an oil leak and a software error that could hinder braking. Volkswagen recalls 100,000 cars on fire risk
Volkswagen Group has recalled more than 100,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles globally due to the risk of fire. The risk of fire is due to an insufficiently insulated high-voltage battery. The recall affects Audi, Seat, Skoda, and VW brands. Read the full story here.
